The world is presently over-dependent on a few plant species. Diversification of production and consumption habits to include a broader range of plant species, in particular those currently identified as 'underutilized', can contribute significantly to improved health and nutrition, livelihoods, household food security and ecological sustainability. About 600 species constitute the global diversity in vegetable crops. Underutilized vegetable have immense potential for contribution to a particular pocket's of food production because they are well adapted to existing as well as adverse environmental conditions and are generally resistant to pests and pathogens. Underutilized vegetables are rich source of folic acid, vitamins, minerals medicinal properties etc. So, in this context more seminars, conferences in national and international for a will be used as opportunities to sensitize stakeholders and the public at large on underutilized and neglected species.
