William Bartram and the American Revolution on the Southern Frontier

In his "Travels", William Bartram recorded the natural world he saw around him but omitted reference to events of the American Revolution. This volume places Bartram in the context of his times and explains his conspicuous avoidance of people and places embroiled in Revolutionary fervour.
