Between religion and science

This book raises the new old question: Is there an antagonism between religion, with its fixed texts, and science, with its continuous development? It reviews three major scientific issues that caused historical uproar and shook the church court in the Middle Ages. It even reached the point of accusing its owners of heresy and sentencing them to death. The first chapter presents scientific theories in astronomy and the universe, and how those theories clashed at the time with theologians'' apparent interpretations of sacred religious texts. The second chapter also presents modern theories about the geography and formation of the Earth, which have been met with resistance and fierce theological wars. Finally, the writer addresses one of the most important theories that has sparked great controversy so far, which is the theory of "evolution and emergence." This brings the reader to the conclusion that the alleged conflict is only between strict interpretations of religion and science, not between religion and science in general.
