Chemical Industry in 1999

This is the United Nations annual review of the chemical industry, one of the world's most international, competitive and successful industries. At the forefront of modern technology, it is a prime wealth-creating sector, serving global markets and producing a multiplicity of products essential to modern lifestyles. Almost every industry and activity depends in some way on the products of the chemical industry. The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN/ECE) has had an interest in the chemical industry for over 25 years, and has an active Chemical Industry Programme administered within its Trade Division.
