Podrobné informácie

Part of a series collecting interviews that were conducted as part of the Schlesinger Library of Radcliffe College's black women oral history project, this book comprises interviews with May Edwards Hill, Fidelia Johnson and Lois Mailou Jones. These volumes are intended to offset the scarcity of written documentary sources on the lives of a number of black women. Oral history differs from the usual archival collecting in that it deliberately creates primary source material. The stories told in these volumes present an overview of the American experience from the beginnings of the country to the 1980s. Topics covered include negroes working for women's suffrage, the "Harlem Renaissance" and black women's activities during World War II.
