Detailed information

In this research have been studied the effect of using the magnetic field on the adsorption process of the copper ions from water by using a local adsorbent produced from banana peels. The produced local adsorbent is found to have a physical characteristic similar to that of the activated carbon. Batch experiments of the produced adsorbent reveals that the adsorption isotherm is of favorable type and obeyed Langmuir isotherm well. Two types of continuous experiments sets were experienced, firstly without applying magnetic field and secondly with applying magnetic field. For the first sets the effect of flow rate, particle size, weight of adsorbent, initial concentration and pH on the adsorption process were studied, the optimum values of these parameters were found and kept constant for successive experiments The breakthrough curves for the copper ions were investigated. It was found that the (E.D) and (B) affect the adsorption breakthrough curves; and experiments showed that removal of Cu ions and accumulative adsorption capacity of adsorbent increase as the the exposure distance and strength of magnetic field increase; and a noticeable reduction in the zetapotential value
