Detailed information

This book is a comprehensive account of heat stress on morpho-physiological attributes of wheat. Heat stress is the key problems of wheat production. Constant or transitory high temperatures affect wheat growth and development leading to diverse morphological, physiological and biochemical changes that eventually decrease grain yield. Being a son of soil, the author always tried to turn the wheat of the fortune of our poverty stricken farmers. It will help to increase agro-based economy. Here the author showed that heat tolerance genotypes consists higher membrane thermostat value. Temperature had a tremendous effect on seed of germination, and seed reserves mobilization. Here also showed that heat tolerant genotypes reflected on minimum changes in flag leaf chlorophyll, proline content in flag leaf, less dependence on reserve mobilization, ability to maintain a cooler canopy environment and high relative performances in yield and important yield determinants and these can be consider as selective criteria of heat tolerance in wheat.
