Detailed information

Composite materials are making trend now a days for their improved corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. The content of the book mainly focus on the development of metal or alloy composite materials made by using ZA-27 alloy reinforced with quartz particulates which are manufactured by liquid melt metallurgy technique using vortex method. Composites after manufacture are subjected to various corrosion tests which include stress corrosion, potentiostat test, galvanostat test, open circuit potential test and static weight loss corrosion tests. Before conducting all these tests an extensive literature survey has been carried out and found that the present composite has not been prepared anywhere. After conducting the tests it was found that the Zinc-Aluminium-27 alloy reinforced with quartz particulate composites are more suitable than the Zinc zluminium-27 alloy. Hence the composites can be used in acidic, alkaline and saltish environment such that the components made of these composites will last longer. Even in marine environment also the composites are more suitable that alloys.
