Detailed information

This book entitled "Molecular mechanism of antidiabetic potential of Fenugreek sprouts" authored by Dr. Omi Laila, Dr. Imtiyaz Murtaza and Prof. M.Z. Abdin provides a strong scientific evidence for the confirmation of phenolic rich fenugreek sprouts as an excellent antidiabetic remedy.. In this study, an attempt has been made to determine the biochemical and molecular targets of phenolic rich fenugreek sprouts for their hypoglycemic effects under in vitro and in vivo conditions, thereby, creating a valuable approach to a develop functional foods with enhanced diabetes preventing properties. This is the first kind of the report where the germination of fenugreek seeds was found to increase their antdiabetic activity many fold than their respective seeds. Through this research, a mechanistic rationale of germinated fenugreek seeds to be used alone or as an adjuvant to current therapies for the better management of diabetes was demonstrated. This study clearly suggests that the 4th day germinated fenugreek sprouts can be incorporated in pharmaceutical preparations for human health or can be directly consumed as a functional food against diabetes.
