Detailed information

This study, a work of imagination, was concerned with philosophy and The Logic of Collective Action in African agriculture with a view to provide new knowledge and foresight capabilities in African agriculture. New knowledge and foresight capabilities are an urgent need in Africa's transformation. The study was located within multiple research paradigms, which were used to create new knowledge, and determine the suitability of philosophy and The Logic of Collective Action, both in African agriculture and Africa's transformation. A Conceptual Framework centered on three I's: Identify, Interpret, and Institute, was used to process and analyse available knowledge and foresight capabilities in African agriculture. The study established that philosophy and The Logic of Collective Action are a formidable source of new knowledge and foresight capabilities in African agriculture. The study also suggested an African Agrarian philosophy, as various actors strive to realise the vision, goals, and targets captured in Agenda 2030 and Agenda 2063.
