Detailed information

In the monograph Istoriko-geograficheskaya antropokhimiya (Historic-Geographical Anthropochemistry) published in Russian in 2003, they suggested and shaped the basis of a new field of science, anthropochemistry. Anthropochemistry is a science that emerges at the interface of geochemistry, anthropology, geography and medicine. Now, the English translation of this book is presented to the readers. Anthropochemistry studies the role of the chemical environment in the life of humans and in the history of human civilizations. We can judge about anthropochemical processes that took place in different times within a given territory from the chemical composition of the soils, habitation deposits and bone tissues of ancient humans. These processes, being controlled by both natural and anthropogenic factors, have largely predetermined the development of humans, their health and their behavior; they have served as one of the major factors of anthropogenesis through the entire history of humans. The results of original field and laboratory studies performed by the authors in the field of anthropochemistry constitute a considerable and highly valuable part of the monograph.
