Detailed information

In the first chapter, we present the geological generalities of our sector of study; The second chapter presents the corollaries of tectonics in terms of the deformations it generates. The third deals with the tectonic-sedimentary aspects of the Nyangezi sector. It presents the interactions between tectonics, erosion and sedimentation. We show that the Kibaran tectonics (compressive) would have created an isostatic imbalance that had to be stabilized by an intense phase of erosion and sedimentation. The fourth is a structural study. We point out that Nyangezi would have known a complex tectonic-sedimentary history and would be undergoing three distinct tectonic regimes: extensive, compressive and transpressive. Finally, an outline of the geological history of the Nyangezi area is presented, which is successively characterized by: Precambrian sedimentation, Kibaran compressive tectonics, extensive tectonics of the Tertiary-Quaternary rifting, Plio-Quaternary transpressive tectonics, Plio-Quaternary sedimentation and Quaternary seismotectonics.
