Bryusov''s literary activity is striking in its versatility. He is known as the author of novels and novels, playwright, translator, art theorist, literary historian and literary critic, poet researcher, journalist, editor, educator, organizer of literary life ... But in the minds of many he is primarily a poet, a recognized leader of Russian symbolism.
