View of Society in Europe

Focusing on medieval property laws and social relations, the "View" (1778) was intended by Gilbert Stuart (1743-1786) as a challenge to the uniform and progressive model of the early modern European History put forward by the leading historian of the Scottish Englightenment, William Robertson.
